Born in Patagonia, right after high school Hugo Salas moved to Buenos Aires, where he studied and developed a career in cultural journalism, writing about literature, film and media. He has taught courses in several universities in Argentina, and he is the author of three published novels, a volume of short stories and more than twenty translations to Spanish from English and French.
He specializes in Latin American literature and film. His current research focuses on the affective and emotional components of the national and supranational identities forged in Latin America during the 19th century, their ties to political economy, and their persistance in contemporary speeches.
