Graduate Coordinator

Laura has been a member of the Penn community since 2012.  She holds a M.A. in Spanish from Middlebury College and a M.S.Ed. in Intercultural Communication from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education (GSE). As a graduate student, she worked as an Academic Writing Coach at GSE and was the Workshop Coordinator at the Albert M. Greenfield Intercultural Center.  In fall of 2014, Laura began teaching Spanish in the College of Arts and Sciences and taught Span 110, Span 120 and Span 130. She was the Span 110 and Span 120 Coordinator from 2017-2019.  Laura has served as Graduate Program Coordinator since 2019 and currently works with three departments: Francophone, Italian, and Germanic Studies (FIGS), Spanish & Portuguese, and South Asia Studies.  She is committed to practicing culturally sensitive language teaching and raising critical language awareness thorough peer collaboration and emphasizing the intersection of language, culture, and identity.
