Bio

Miguel Alejandro Pérez Alvarado was born in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, and grew up in Tecomatlán, Puebla, Mexico. He holds a BA and an MA in History from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). His undergraduate thesis examined the Zapatista revolutionary movement in the southern region of Puebla during the Mexican Revolution, and his master's research focused on the historical investigations of the Marxist intellectual and novelist José Revueltas. His research interests center on the materialist interpretation of modern Mexican cultural and intellectual production in the 20th century. He is particularly interested in the intersections of literary analysis, political economy, and intellectual history, with a focus on the relationship between literary form and the history of capitalism in peripheral and semi-peripheral societies like Mexico.
